Word of the Year

What is your word(s) for 2021?

Have you ever prayed and asked God to give you a word for the upcoming year?

I have been doing this for a few years now and if you try it, you may be surprised what you hear.

A few years ago, I prayed for a word for the upcoming year and heard the Lord say in my spirit “patience”.

What? Patience? I’m a patient person, aren’t I??

Wrong.

As I intentionally tried to practice patience that year, I realized just how impatient I was! Over and over again I was challenged to slow down, relax, and to just be in the moment instead of trying to rush through everything. I’m not sure why I was always in such a hurry (maybe leftover from having to rush home to get kids fed and napped…?), but it was a relief to know I could slow down and the world wouldn’t come to an end.

I have a feeling I’ll be working on that one for the rest of my life : )

But it’s almost the new year. I’ve been thinking and praying about mine and I think I know what it is, but I’m going to mull it over for a few more days to be sure.

What is your word(s) for 2021? What have you learned in the past from your word for the year?
