A Little Bit of Heaven on Earth
Work, kids, laundry, bills, cranky co-workers, disagreements with our spouse, what to make for dinner – again…
Keeping all these plates spinning in the air can make you feel like spinning off somewhere yourself.
But what if we stepped back and thought about what is going on beyond what we can see?
We too can live our lives unaware of another realm – the spiritual realm.
While performing the ordinary, everyday, mundane tasks of life, we can join God in His work and help bring the unseen into the seen, bring the spiritual into our reality for His glory. By bringing a little bit of heaven to earth, we can make a significant difference in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Here are just a few ways we can do that.
Love Them
When the kids are cranky, ask the Lord for some extra love for them and extra patience for you. Maybe they just need extra kindness, hugs and kisses.
Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body. Proverbs 16:24 ESV
Support Them
If your husband is snappy when he gets home from work, maybe he has had a hard day and needs reassurance regarding his value and abilities.
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. 1 Thes. 5:11 ESV
Pray for Them
Piles of laundry? Thank God you have a family who wears those clothes and pray they will remain “clean”, unstained by the world and invite others to join you - in the folding and the praying. You would be doing double duty teaching the kids to fold laundry and to pray God’s Word!
Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world Phil. 2: 14-15 ESV
You might be thinking, that’s great, but how do I have the energy to do all that? Ask the Lord for what you need and receive it. He knows exactly what you need when you need it.
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:19 ESV
What a wonderful opportunity! God invites us to join us in His work no matter what our age, stage in life, job, etc. and He gives us the power and ability to do so.
So momma, remember the next time you are feeling tired and weary, call out to the Lord to supply all your needs so you can bring some heaven to earth in the midst of the everyday.
